Ingredients: Cement – 1 part (Type of cement: Ordinary Portland Cement is commonly used) Fine Sand – 2-3 parts (To improve the adhesive strength and workability) Polymer/Resin Additive – 0.1-0.5 parts (A bonding agent such as SBR or PVA can be used for added flexibility and strength) Lime – 0.1-0.2 parts (Optional, used to enhance workability) Water – As needed (To make the mixture work as a paste) Optional Additives: White Cement (for high-quality, white-colored tile adhesives). Antifungal Additive (to prevent mold growth on wet surfaces). Instructions: Mix the dry ingredients: In a large container, mix the cement and fine sand in the specified ratio (1 part cement to 2-3 parts sand). Optionally, add lime to the dry mixture to improve the adhesive's smoothness and flexibility. Add polymer/resin additive: Depending on the desired adhesive strength and flexibility, mix a polymer or resin bonding agent into the dry mixture. For instance, you can use a Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) or Polyvinyl Acetate (PVA) emulsion. Mix with water: Slowly add water to the dry mixture while stirring continuously to form a paste-like consistency. Add the water gradually to avoid making the mixture too thin. The consistency should be thick enough to adhere well to the tiles without dripping. Adjust the consistency: If the paste is too thick, add a little more water to achieve a smooth and workable consistency. Application: Apply the adhesive directly to the surface using a notched trowel for even spread. Press the tiles firmly onto the surface and ensure they are aligned and spaced properly. Additional Notes: The adhesive should be used within a few hours of preparation as it tends to harden over time. This homemade adhesive is suitable for dry interior surfaces. For high-moisture or outdoor areas, use professional-grade adhesive or consider adding additional waterproofing agents.
